Satya retired from an almost 30-year international business career in 1994 and has since dedicated herself to community service and volunteer leadership. She has served on several City of Markham committees, currently sits on the Race Relations and Accessibility Advisory Committees, and is a Resident Ambassador for the South Markham Community Action Table. She also volunteers with York Regional Police.

Her community contributions have been recognized with the Mayor's Senior Hall of Fame Award, the Ontario Volunteer Service Award, and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Award. Satya currently serves as an Executive of Wyndham Gardens Residents Association.
