Our Volunteer Program offers meaningful and rewarding opportunities that help enhance the quality of life for the residents and seniors across our campus. Since 1968, UHS volunteers have played an important role in creating a warm, welcoming, and vibrant community.
As a UHS volunteer, you will:

Volunteer Requirements
To participate in the UHS Volunteer Program, volunteers must:
• Be at least 14 years of age
• Commit to a minimum of 50 hours over a 6-month period
• Bring a positive attitude — and have fun!
Volunteer and Placement Opportunities

• Individual Volunteer Opportunities
• High School Co-op Placements
• College & University Co-op Placements
• Recreation Program Support at Union Villa LTC and/or the Unionville Community Centre for Seniors
• Customer Service Support
• Special Events

Step 1 – Complete an Application
Complete a UHS Volunteer Application Form.
Applications may be:
• Dropped off at the UHS Front Desk, or
• Emailed to: volunteer@uhs.on.ca
Step 2 – Interview & Screening Process
After your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted to schedule an interview.
Successful applicants will then be required to complete:
• A Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required for applicants 18+)
• A two-step TB test (completed through your doctor or medical clinic)
Step 3 – Orientation & Training
Once all required documentation has been submitted, volunteers will:
• Complete online learning modules through Surge Learning
• Attend a Volunteer Orientation Session
• Be matched with a volunteer placement
• Receive role-specific training, ongoing support, and feedback
