EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLANNING
Unionville Home Society (UHS) is committed to ensuring the health, safety, security and protection of its staff, residents, visitors, volunteers, students and contractors. As such, UHS has created a comprehensive Emergency Management Plan which includes identifying and avoiding or reducing risks, preparing for those that cannot be avoided, activating an emergency plan to respond to an emergency, and returning to normal functioning. This is called the 5 components of emergency management,
1. Prevention 2. Mitigation. 3. Preparedness 4. Response 5. Recovery
UHS has developed its emergency plans in consultation with staff, residents, resident/ family councils, and our community partners and have been updated within the framework of the legislation, regulation and standards set out by the provincial government in the FLTCA 2021.

EMERGENCY COLOUR CODES
UHS has adopted Standardized Emergency Colour codes enabling the organization to alert staff, residents and visitors and to respond in a consistent, efficient and effective way to specific emergency situations. These codes and response plans are the foundation on which our emergency plans are based.
All staff are trained in the communication of these codes and the associated emergency response processes for each. UHS has written procedures for the above noted emergency situations that include immediate actions, roles and responsibilities, community resources key contacts documentation requirements, supply access and provisions, lines of command, communication, procedures, staffing contingency plans, and plans for recovery. Our emergency plans are regularly tested in accordance with regulations and legislation.
